Quilt kits are a shop favorite—both for quilters who want convenience and for shops that want to boost sales. But if your kits aren’t moving as fast as you'd like, it might be time to rethink your strategy. Whether you're stocked with seasonal kits, laser cut appliqué, or beginner-friendly projects, here are 6 effective tips to help you sell more kits in less time.

1. Show It Off—Visually

Don’t just stack kits on a shelf. Display a finished sample prominently, especially near the entrance or register. Seeing the finished result helps customers visualize the project and increases impulse purchases. If you don’t have time to sew the full sample, try mounting blocks or partial sections on foam core to show off the appliqué or fabric.

2. Create a Sense of Urgency

Limited-time kits or exclusive runs drive faster decisions. Use language like “Only 12 kits available!” or “This won’t be restocked!” in signage, social media, and email campaigns. Countdown timers in emails or online stores can help emphasize urgency, too.

3. Bundle with a Bonus

Add value with little extras—include a free mini pattern, a coordinating thread sample, or even a coupon for a future purchase. Small bonuses make the kit feel like a steal, increasing the perceived value without cutting into margins too much.

4. Use Reels & Short Videos

A 15-second video can do more than a dozen photos. Show the kit being unwrapped, key features (like pre-fused or laser-cut pieces), or a timelapse of someone making it. Post reels to Instagram, Facebook, and even TikTok if your audience is there. Videos build connection and excitement quickly.

5. Promote with Purpose

Instead of randomly sharing kits, create a mini campaign. For example:

  • Email on Monday: Feature the kit with photos and benefits
  • Reel on Wednesday: Behind-the-scenes or demo
  • Static post on Friday: Customer review or photo of the kit in use
Consistency builds awareness—and the more often customers see it, the more likely they are to buy.

6. Make It Easy to Buy

Don’t let the checkout process slow things down. Ensure kits are listed clearly online with great photos, prices, and a prominent "Add to Cart" button. In-store, make it easy to grab and go—clearly labeled, within reach, and ideally close to the register or sample.

Selling kits doesn’t have to be time-consuming. By showcasing your kits in strategic ways and adding value where it counts, you can turn them into one of your fastest-moving products. Try one or two of these tips this month and watch what happens!
